This ceremonial document, issued and signed by Mayor Esther Sanchez recognizing and paying tribute to local breweries, was received by Northern Pine Brewing and Oceanside Brewing Company. Art That Excites Naming Contest Through April 10 CONTEST EXTENDED! Help us name Downtown Oceanside’s next public art mural! The Ocean Glass Mosaic Mural is complete and awaiting installation. Our thanks to all who helped create the 12-by-16-foot mural. Now we are seeking the community’s involvement in naming the mural, which represents a community of local sea life as it resides below the surface of the Pacific Ocean just off our beaches. The winner will receive a $100 gift card to the Downtown restaurant of your choice. To enter, follow MainStreet Oceanside and comment with one or more names for the mural by Sunday at 10 p.m. The selected mural name — and the winner — will be announced at the installation of the mural. |
“Under My Skin” Opening Reception and Retro Pop-Up April 8, 9, The Hill Street Country Club Friday from 6-9 p.m., The Hill Street Country Club is holding an opening reception for “Under My Skin,” a pop-up exhibition by Amel Janae. A painter, turned photographer and seamstress, Janae focuses on the human form throughout all her mediums. Most recently, Janae has honed in on self portraiture. Saturday from noon-4 p.m., the Downtown Oceanside art gallery will be featuring local fashion vendors EarthxBae and Top of the Barrel Vintage as they takeover the HSCC, selling new and used vintage, re-loved and brand-name clothing and home goods. “Into the Woods” Through May 2, Brooks Theater A co-production by New Village Arts and Oceanside Theatre Company, this Stephen Sondheim musical brings well-known fairytale characters to musical life. Interwoven through their tales is the story of a baker and his wife, whose longing for a child is thwarted by a mischievous witch. Previewing through Friday and opening Saturday, “Into the Woods” will transform the Oceanside Theatre Company’s stage into a magic land where almost anything can and does happen. |
