Japanese Breakfast Can’t Get a Word in Amid Natasha Lyonne Pile-On in ‘SNL’ Promo

Often there is just no space for the musical guest to get a phrase in edgewise in the weekly Saturday Evening Live promo videos. This week’s preview is no exception, as Japanese Breakfast singer Michelle Zauner is remaining speechless as two SNL vets go ham on the signature vocal stylings of this week’s host, Russian Doll star Natasha Lyonne.

“Hi, I’m Natasha Lyonne and I’m hosting the season finale of SNL this 7 days with musical guest Japanese Breakfast!,” Lyonne says enthusiastically in her rode-tricky-and-set-absent-scratchy voice when wearing a modified Canadian tuxedo. She receives a warm smile from Zauner, but the actress is not as psyched about the “compliments” showered on her solid users Kate McKinnon and Kenan Thompson.

Much more from Billboard

“You’ve obtained these an legendary voice Natasha,” McKinnon suggests as Lyonne croaks out a thank you. “You sort of sound like if Marge Simpson was true.” Lyonne shrugs and states, “not definitely a compliment,” as Thompson doubles-down on the non-pliments. “Yeah, your voice is wonderful,” he claims (“good start” Lyonne replies). “You audio like if sandpaper could discuss.”

“Horrible complete,” Lyonne glass gargles back in her New Yawk yawp. “You audio like each secretary in a Monsters Inc. movie,” McKinnon realizes. “Okay, hurtful,” Lyonne crackles as Thompson tells her she sounds like she’s experienced COVID for 1,000 decades. “Hate that!” the actress rasps. By the conclusion, she dubs herself “sufficiently insulted” by McKinnon’s “rusty kazoo” zinger.

The display will mark each Lyonne and Zauner’s SNL debuts. Right after an motion-packed 47th period, SNL will go off the air for the summer time pursuing Saturday’s (May perhaps 21) present, which airs on NBC at 11: 30 p.m. ET.
