Big Bad Breakfast — founded in Oxford in 2008 by James Beard award winning chef and author John Currence — will open its first Arkansas location in West Little Rock tomorrow at 101 S. Bowman Road. The doors open at 7 a.m.
If you’re wondering about the breakfast fare or drooling with anticipation, here’s a brief write-up from Arkansas Times editor and food photographer Lindsey Millar about his somewhat recent experience rolling through velvet ditch in Oxford, where he referred to his visit to Big Bad Breakfast as the highlight of the trip:
“It appears to be standard high-end decadent breakfast fare, but like our experience at Bouré [another Oxford Currence joint], the ingredients and execution were just about flawless. I got the Creole omelette, impossibly fluffy and filled with ‘all of the chef’s favorite ingredients’: shrimp, andouille sausage, onions, tomatoes and cheddar and topped with tomato gravy and green onions. I got it with a perfect biscuit, a hashbrown cake, strong coffee and a Bloody Mary made from scratch. It carried me all the way through to dinnertime.”
Ben Brainard, formerly of Yellow Rocket Concepts, is Big Bad Breakfast’s operating partner for the state of Arkansas. The new Little Rock location will seat 116 indoors, with 12 additional seats outside. It will feature a full service bar and be open from 7 a.m.-2:30 p.m. daily.
